Austin Ekeler is the Best RB for Fantasy Football Playoffs

December 17, 2020

Saying “Austin Ekeler is the Best RB for Fantasy Football Playoffs” might seem like a bold statement, but if you look at his Week 15 and 16 matchups, they are golden opportunities for you to win the gold.

Let’s break down his Week 15 matchup first. The Chargers are going up against a dismal Las Vegas run defense. The Raiders D has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to RBs this season. When LV played against the Jets in Week 13, Ty Johnson and Josh Adams combined for 26.1 FPTs. I’ll repeat. Ty Johnson and Josh Adams. Of the 26.1 FPTs, only 2.3 came from Receiving (Ty had 2 REC for 13 YDS). They combined for 30 Rush ATTs for 178 Rushing YDS and 1 Rush TD. In Week 14, the Colts ran all over LV’s D. Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines combined for 39.00 FPTs. JT had 20 Rush ATT, 150 Rush YDS, 2 Rush TDs, 2 REC, 15 REC YDS, and 0 REC TDs. Hines finished with 7 Rush ATT, 58 Rush YDS, 0 Rush TDs, 4 REC, 17 REC YDS, and 0 REC TDs.

The Raiders have already ruled out 4 defensive starters for Thursday night. That is not good for LV, but very good for the Chargers. The Raiders give up the 8th most Rush YDS/G (128.08), 3rd most Rush YDS/ATT (4.73), and the most Rush TDs/G (1.62). Ekeler should have no problem being a Top 5 RB this week. *UPDATE* Mike Williams is out for LAC tonight.

When we look ahead to Week 16, LAC will be hosting the Broncos and their very mediocre D. This season, they have given up the 6th most Rush YDS/G (131.00), 5th most Rush YDS/ATT (4.64), and 6th most Rush TDs/G (1.31). They have given up the 10th most FPTs to RBs this season. This is a very good matchup for Ekeler and I expect him to finish in the RB1 range.
